Verbena

The Rabbit:

Name: Verbena

Age: Adult (3yrs)

Gender: Female (Doe)

Coloring: Black with tan ticking and a tan triangle behind her ears.

Physical size: Large

Current rank: Wide Patrol member (Aspiring Captain of Wide Patrols)

Verbena's specific breed of rabbit would be Tan, although she gets her size from a (very diluted) gene of Flemish Giant down the line. She has the classic markings of a Tan, a cream colored belly that darkens to beige and then dark tan around the sides and legs, and tan ticking on her legs and down her sides. Overall she is black, but her ears (on the insides) are the cream of her belly. She has tan ticking on her ears, but much more sparse than on her sides and legs. She also has a tan triangle of fur behind the base of her ears.

Verbena is usually a calm and even-tempered rabbit. She tries to make friends. She has a strong sense of protocol and can sometimes come off as too militaristic, especially to hlessil. She doesn't quite trust many hlessil at first, as she often suspects they are spies from Eye of Inle or Nu Beatha. Once sh gets to know them, and unless they've given her a reason to be otherwise, she is amiable and very friendly. She is rather proud sometimes, and consideres herself a veteran. She has fought in three wars for Nepenthes, and is very loyal to Septfoil-Rah and the warren in general. Sometimes her pride can get her into trouble, though. She often second guesses her superiors if she has no respect for them. She has good tactical and strategical sense, and tracking skills developed by months of being a hlessil, both before she came to Nepenthes and during an impromptu 'mission' away from Nepenthes. She's a careful fighter, and thinks each attack and defense through, but in seconds as the battle ensues. Her size can be a weakness in battle, as it slows her down and hinders her agility. She does her best not to let it slow her down too much.

Before coming to Nepenthes, Verbena was a hlessi. She was tough and weather-hardened, a fiery young doe with rather sudden judgment and a quick temper. She opted to get into the Owsla at her first meeting with the Rah, and proceeded to start her training. Her training was halted, though, as the first war shook Nepenthes, and then the one against Eye of Inle happened. She never finished Owsla training.

During the beginning of the third war, Verbena noticed that a rabbit who was supposed to be under close scrutiny in the warren was getting away in the chaos. His name was Aspen, and Verbena rashly decided to follow him. She left, tracking Aspen for months as he moved from place to place and warren to warren. Finally he noticed her, and confronted her. They went their seperate ways, Verbena back to her only home, Nepenthes. When she got back there was much to do, many new people to meet, and a rescue mission on for Valerian, who was being held hostage by Eye of Inle. She got into the Wide Patrol, then under Captain Croation.

You could say that Verbena hated Captain Croation from the start, partly for the humiliation he put her through when she tried to suggest a course of action. She had been gone for a long time, and had partly forgotten the military separation of officer and underling. He put her sharply in her place, and the veteran Verbena resented it. She also held great animosity towards the Lieutenant Dashwell of the Wide Patrols, as he agreed with the Captain. She was also jealous of his title of Lieutenant, which she wanted. And finally, they were both after the same position: Captain of Wide Patrols. Verbena has been waiting for a good position for a long time. She resents Dashwell, who she sees as new to the warren. But mostly, she resents what she missed of warren life while she was gone.

I must say, Verbena is my all-time favorite character. She was my first, as Nepenthes was the first RPG I ever joined. I've been playing almost three years now (my anniversary is April 28). I also play on wild horse RPGs. I especially like battle-oriented games like The Sixth Element, an advanced battle RPG. I'm an advanced roleplayer (on good days), and I've been teaching wild horse roleplaying for about a year and a half now. I've been playing at the Sixth for four months.

I own an RPG. It's name is Mercury Isle. I brought it back to life after it died a long time ago. It now has a domain name, a stellar plotline, and many happy members. Check it out at http://www.mercuryisle.net.
